With his own personal style, Saura continues to distill the magic and explore the boundaries of art in its purest state.


About the Director
One of Spain’s most renown filmmakers with Bunuel and Almodovar, was born in Huesca, Aragon, the orgins of Jota. At the age of 23 he directed his first documentary, and now he's the director for more than 50 films. His films won in Cannes (except the Palm d’Or), in Berlin (including the Golden Bear) and has been 3 times nominated for the Oscar awards among other innumerable awards.

His series of musical films are regarded as one of the most important creative achievements in recent world cinema. With La Jota he closes a circle that he started with Sevillans in 1992.

Carlos Saura is Comendateur of the Order of Arts and Letters of France, Grand Official of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, Order of Isabel the Catholic in Spain, EFA award for Film Contribution and hold several Honoris Causa from universities all over the world.


About the Cast
Sara Baras
The most expensive flamenco dancer on the international stage. She began her dance studies when she was 8 years old, and she won flamenco dancing contests for three times. She was filmed with Tom Cruise for Mission Impossible 2 as a solo flamenco dancer. She also became the spokesperson of some fancy brands at different fashion weeks in London, Milan and so on.

In this film, Sarah Baras will have gorgeous and glamorous performance, that makes you dazzling along with Gran Jota de concierto.

Miguel Ángel Berna
Known as the King of Jota, Miguel Ángel Berna studied jota at the age of 8 and then won his first champion of dancing award 9 years later. His own company, Live Dance once toured all over the world and performed at the 2008 World Expo, which could be regarded as the kick-starter of Jota dancing.

In addition to serving as the choreographer, Miguel also plays a role and teaches Jota in this film, in which he creates a new enjoyable performance for the audience.
