Founded by Euro-China Film Club and Movie View International, China-Euro Women Film Festival is a cultural event set out to support women filmmakers in both China and Europe which aims at providing a platform to encourage women to share their stories through series of screenings and sharing activities, enhancing the creative and independent vision of women, as well as fostering gender parity in the film industry.

China-Euro Women Film Festival will exhibit films annually in China and Europe by selecting women directors or films of female themes. The film festival hopes to make full use of film to call attention upon the media and audiences, to promote women's films around the world, thereby expanding the influence of female filmmakers in the world. In 2017, Movie View International has successfully held “Women Filmmaker’s Forum” at Venice Film Festival. At 2018 Cannes Film Festival, China-Euro Women Film Festival launched a forum “How women are changing the entertainment business”. Lots of industry professionals attending those events.

The Grand is honored to showcase China-Euro Women Film Festival first ever in Hong Kong. 6 films by female directors from China and Europe are selected for screenings from Jun 21 - Jun 26. A forum attended by some women industry professionals will also be held at Jun 24 to explore “How do women filmmakers create opportunities for themselves?”.


Someone To Talk To The story follows the intense encounters of a sister and her younger brother, adapted from the Mao Dun Literature Prize winning novel of the【One Sentence is Ten Thousand Sentences】.

What’s In The Darkness A rape case breaks the peace of a small town, even the investigation is processing, there's still some girls missing...

Kiss And Cry The first feature of coming French directors Ms Chloé Mahieu and Ms Lila Pinell, describing the story of a 15 years old girl, Sarah. Can she have determination to fight against the pressure surrounding her?

Raging Rose Father and son, how will a teen girl with tumult of sexual awakening choose?

Forever Young Acted by experienced actress & actors, it's a story of 4 generations of Tsinghua University students through a century of Chinese modern history.

Impermanence Director Ms Zeng Zeng used her distinct point of view to elaborate the story of 3 middle-aged men on their unique paths of self-discovery.



Forum: How do women filmmakers create opportunities for themselves?

Women are under-represented in the entertainment industry, still, there is a number of female film professionals fight against the obstacles and have accomplished brilliant achievements in the film industry. In this forum, we will focus on discussing what the obstacles are, how female directors make their voice heard through film-making and to what extent they create opportunities for themselves in the industry.

Ms. Eliasoph is a film industry veteran and the President and CEO of perfect Village Entertainment. She leads the company in its business of producing and distributing films such as Journey to the West, Say Yes!, Mountain Cry, Reborn, Shadow etc.

Kiss And Cry - Women FF
Sarah, at 15 years of age, returns to figure skating at the Colmar club without knowing whether she is doing it for herself or for her mother. She is confronted with the violence of high level competition, rivalry between the girls, and the harsh words of the trainer. While her body is put through its paces by the ice, her adolescent desires turn her attention away from her sporting ambitions.

This is the first feature of coming French directors Ms Chloé Mahieu and Ms Lila Pinell.

In the summer of 1991, a rape case breaks the peace of a small town. The fathers of two girls in the local middle school are the policemen in charge of the case: QU’s father is a stubborn legal medical expert always insisting on ironclad evidence, while ZHANG’s father is a retired soldier who handled cases relying on his intuition and often extorted confessions through torture. The supposed criminal is caught by ZHANG’s father yet similar cases keep happening. Nobody has noticed ZHANG’s disappearance since she was kicked out of class.

Director Wang Yichun won the Best Director Award at the 9th First International Film Festival Xining for her work.

SOMEONE TO TALK TO lifts the veil on inherent loneliness, the multifaceted nature of marriage and human relationships in real modern Chinese society. Set in a small town in China, the story follows the intense encounters of a sister and her younger brother; one is getting a divorce while the other is getting married. Adapted from the Mao Dun Literature Prize winning novel of the 【One Sentence is Ten Thousand Sentences】 written by Liu Zhen Yun , who is the scriptwriter of this film, also the father of the director Liu Yulin.

The film had its world premiere at the New Currents section at the 21st Busan International Film Festival, it has also been selected for more than 50 film festivals around the world.

Three middle-aged men: a hotel owner, a monk, and a playboy. Heavy with burdens, real world and spiritual, they each embark on journeys of faith. On their unique paths to self-discovery, they nevertheless find themselves inextricably linked. Blurring the boundaries of space, time, and even reality, their journeys ultimately lead uncovering the true meaning of their lives.

Director Zeng Zeng graduated from Beijing Film Academy and her short film SUMMER SECRET was in multiple film festival selections, while IMPERMANENCE was in the 47th International Film Festival Rotterdam “Bright Future”Official Selection.
